Royal-colistin

• PRESENTATION

• Colistin is a bactericidal polypeptide antibiotic belongs to ploymyxin group. it produces its antibacterial effect by interacting strongly with phospholipids in bacterial cell membrane& radically disturbed their permeability& function. colistin is active againest G -ve bacteria including E. coil & Salmonella spp.

• INDICATIONS

 It is used for the treatment of : 

• Colibacillosis caused by E- Coli susceptible to colstin.

• Salmonellosis caused by salmonella spp. Susceptible to colistin

• COMPOSITION

Each 100 gm contains: Colistin Sulphate 600 million IU.

• DOSEAGE & ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION

Route of administration: orally via drinking water Poultry: 1gm / 6 litre of drinking water once daily for 4-5 successive days. Rabbits: 0.5 gm / 25 kg b.w. once daily for 4-5 successive days. Calves, Sheep & Goats: 40 000 IU / kg b.w. for 3-5 successive days.

•  WITHDRAWAL PERIOD

Meat:claves 2 days.Broiler chickens:2 days. Eggs: Laying hen:0 days

• STORAGE

in dry place at temp. not excced 30° to be used immmediately after opening

•  SIDE EFFECTS

No side effect in the recommmended does but in case of overdose digestive problems may occur such as a transient softening of feces or bloat

•CONTRA – INDICATIONS

Not to be used in animal hypersensitive to colistin . Not to be used in animals with renal failure. Not to be used with cations (calcium,magnesium & manganese) and unsaturated fatty acide as colistin antagonized with them 

•WARNING & PRECAUTION

The medicated water should be prepared daily
