Erythroforte-25
• PRESENTATION
Erythroforte is a macrolide antibiotic, Oral solution containing “Erythromycin Thiocyonate”
Erythromycin is usually a bacteriostatic agent, but in high concentrations or against highly susceptible organisms it may be bactericidal.
The macrolides (erythromycin and tylosin) are believed to act by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting peptide bond formation ,but not cross mitochondrial membrane and therefore don’t produce bone marrow suppression.
Erythromycin is absorbed after oral administration in the upper small intestine, erythromycin has tissue conc. Higher than serum conc. In addition to the lung, erythromycin concentration in pleural, peritoneal and seminal fluid is higher than or equal to the serum concentration.
